Soccer is a beautiful sport—one with many benefits but it is not an inborn talent. One nurture their passion for the sport with frequent training. If you are a parent looking to nurture the love of soccer to your kids, these tips will work great!
1: Model The Behaviour/Sport
As the famous saying goes, “Monkey see, monkey do!” No matter how many times you talk about soccer, you must match your discussions with actual games. Whether its at the park or just at home (yes, even if in the corridor), your child is more likely to develop a love of the game once they see you playing it.
2: Validate Your Child’s Efforts
Validation goes a long way in building your child’s passion and efforts with this sport. A simple high five, hug or just “great job” when you see them playing or training, will encourage and energize them to keep at it.
3: Join a Team or Find Friends Who Share the Passion for Soccer
Find friends or get your child to join a team of other soccer players. The peer-to-peer challenge and support inspires them and allows them to test their progress or growth through friendly, yet competitive games.
4: Make Sure There’s Lots of Laughter
Associate the soccer games with laughter, fun and even silly moments. Get your kids building some memories and great experiences during their process of soccer training. They’ll develop a genuine love for the game and will have fond memories of it (and you) as they grow.
